Stay away from this product by lbesser Pros: HP Media Center plugs into the frame for convenient backup (you'll need it)
Cons: Dismal reliability. Terrible "support" from India. I bought two of these computers and had terrible experience with both. System Recovery was used at least a dozen times during the past two years and both machines were sent back to HP's Service Center. I had to re-install all my programs many times. Both computers had their CPUs, hard drives, and video cards replaced. Unless you managed to reach their Oregon-based support group (2-3% chance per call) the help you receive is almost useless. I have probably spent 100 hour talking on the phone to various HP personnel about my problems, including their elit corporate trouble-shhoting group. I also wrote HP's CEO about my frustration and time wasted. He did not reply.

I have heard in the past about people having computer problems and now I have empathy for them. As a former HP engineer, I am embarrassed that this once so great company puts out such poor product. Stay away from it unless you are a masochist. |

Another awesome Emachines pc for the money! by bowflex1 Pros: The AMD dual core processor. The amount of RAM. The massive hard drive. The price.
Cons: None at this time. This will be my third Emachines desktop pc in 6 years. I typically upgrade them as much as I can and then move on when I reach the limit. This machine has a fast processor in the form of an AMD Athlon x2 dual core 2.3 GHz 4400 , plenty of RAM (3 GB) , a huge hard drive (320 GB) , all of the memory slots , and a PCI express slot for a nice graphics card for intensive pc games (I put in an ATI 4670).

I can play Far Cry 2 and Crysis without a problem (not on the highest settings , but with various combinations that suit me just fine). It's fast , quiet , attractive , and the price couldn't be beat ($489 with a 19 inch monitor and an all-in-one Canon printer.. kaching! ). The graphics card was an additional $140. Yes we can! |
